Discussion “Pride as a concept in various contexts”

Participants: human rights defender, member of the organizing Committee of the Minsk-Gay-Pride 2014 Ekaterina Borsuk (Belarus), human rights defenders, participants of the organizing Committee of the Baltic Gay-Pride 2016 Virginia Prasmiskaite and Vladimir Simanko (LGL, Lithuania), coordinator of the program “Gender democracy” of the Fund named after G. Boll in Ukraine, member of the organizing Committee of Kyiv Pride-2016 Anna Daugapol (Ukraine).Ekaterina Borsuk (Belarus) – a consultant from the organization “Office for democratic Belarus” (Brusel), and Civic Belarus (Czech Republic), human rights defender and organizer of Minsk Gay-Pride-2014 will tell why pride is not propaganda, but a way to defend the rights of the LGBT community, and what situations you may encounter while organizing such an event in an intolerant country.
The coordinator of the program “Gender democracy” of the Fund named of G. Boll in Ukraine, member of the organizing Committee of Kyiv Pride-2016 Anna Daugapol will tell about her experience in this direction, will share her thoughts whether prides can solve the problem of unevenness in general and including gender.
Also in discussion will take part guests from Lithuania – human rights defenders, participants of the organizing Committee of the Baltic Gay-Pride 2016 Virginia Prasmiskaite and Vladimir Simonko (LGL, Lithuania). Vladimir has extensive experience in the protection of LGBT rights in Lithuania, he is an expert in numerous international projects and actively participates in conferences on human rights (the National Equality and Diversity Forum). Along with Virginia they will estimate the attitude to pride in western countries and the influence of pride on LGBT community in the society in general.
